FAQ Grades 6-12

1. Is this just a "click-for-credit" online course?

No. At White Mountain Virtual Academy, our courses go far beyond basic multiple-choice work. Students engage in meaningful learning through quizzes, essays, labs, projects, discussions, and more. We focus on developing real understanding and critical thinking skills — not just checking boxes. 

2. What is the curriculum like?

Our curriculum is fully digital and designed specifically for grades 6–12. It uses a multimedia approach to make learning engaging and effective — including animations, interactive videos, simulations, and real-world scenarios. This dynamic content helps students connect what they learn to future academic goals and career paths.

3. How often do students need to log in?

Students are expected to log in at least 4 days a week to stay on pace, engage with the material, and complete assignments. Consistent participation is key to success in our program. 

4. Are there live classes or is it self-paced?

All courses are self-paced, meaning students can work on their own schedule. This is what gives families the flexibility. All courses include pre-recorded lessons by certified teachers that are already loaded and available. No more waiting for weekly posts. This gives students the ability to work at the pace that meets their needs.

5. Can students interact with teachers and get help?

Absolutely! Our certified teachers are available to provide support through in-course chat from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (PST). Outside of those hours, students can still receive assistance through our AI-powered chat system..

6. What technology is needed?

Students will need a reliable internet connection, a computer or Chromebook, and basic digital literacy. All curriculum materials are online — no textbooks required.

7. How are students assessed?

Students are assessed through a variety of methods including quizzes, essays, lab reports, projects, and presentations. This well-rounded evaluation helps ensure deep understanding and meaningful learning.

8. Is this program suitable for students with busy schedules or unique needs?

Yes! Our flexible structure makes it a great fit for students with medical needs, travel obligations, extracurricular commitments, or those seeking a more personalized learning environment.
